Innovation in Australia: Joining up a disconnected system
Free public seminars in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, proudly presented by IPRIA in association with the Melbourne Business School, UTS Business School and UQ Business School.
Innovation happens when the ideas and resources of different organisations connect effectively. Systems are defined by their connections, and innovation systems link businesses with one another and with research organisations and government. Australia's innovation system is disconnected. We are insufficiently collaborative. We lack the strategies in business and universities to build the long term, trust based relationships that are essential for innovation leadership.
This seminar poses the question of what can be done to improve collaboration from the perspective of businesses, research institutions and government?

Professor Mark Dodgson is Director of the Technology and Innovation Management Centre at the University of Queensland Business School and Visiting Professor at Imperial College Business School, London. He is a founding director of the Think, Play, Do Group, a company that works with some of the world's most innovative companies, and is non-executive director of Nestle Australia. He has advised numerous companies and governments throughout Aurope, Asia and North and South America and has researched and taught innovation in over 50 countries. He is a regular commentator in the national press, writing on business, innovation and higher education. His latest books are The Management of Technological Innovation and Innovation: A Very Short Introduction, both for Oxford University Press. Website: www.markdodgson.org
